NICHI provides financial resources to support For Indigenous, By Indigenous housing solutions for urban, rural, and northern Indigenous Peoples. The 281.5 million dollar fund addresses the urgent need for safe, adequate, and affordable Indigenous housing projects across Canada.
Capacity and organizational development
Up to 1 million dollars for project development, on the ground assistance, operational support, and improvements that ensure project success.
Capital development
From 1 million up to 10 million dollars to bridge or leverage funding for large scale projects, major renovations, and new builds.
Who can apply
Indigenous led non profit organizations in urban, rural, and northern areas of Canada that serve First Nations, Metis, or Inuit communities.
Eligibility Criteria
Who Is Eligible To Apply
This fund is available to Indigenous led organizations in the community housing sector. Indigenous led means board and executive leadership is over 50 percent Indigenous, and the organization serves First Nations, Inuit, or Metis populations. Applicants must be non profit and able to address urgent and unmet housing need.
